Young Investigator Awards

iSBTc promotes growth and achievement amongst young investigators in the field of cancer biologics. In 2008, iSBTc will offer several Young Investigator Awards, recognizing excellence in oral abstract and poster presentations at the iSBTc 23rd Annual Meeting. Be sure to check the award eligibility box when submitting abstracts online to be considered for one of these Young Investigator Awards.

Award Eligibility

To qualify for a Young Investigator Award, the primary/presenting author must meet the young investigator criteria:

  • Qualifying individual must be listed as both the primary author and the presenting author on the abstract.
  • Primary/presenting author must be a student, post doctoral fellow-in-training, or junior faculty (instructor or assistant professor) with three or less years on staff.
  • Authors selected for oral presentations must be capable and comfortable presenting the abstract to a large audience and answering audience questions.

Presidential Awards

Four abstracts submitted in any category and authored by young investigators (as defined) will be selected for 20-minute oral presentations during the Presidential Session on Saturday, November 1, 2008. Each primary/presenting author will receive a Presidential Travel Award. Of those four abstracts presented, one will be selected as the 2008 Presidential Award winner by a committee of members of the iSBTc Board of Directors.

(1) Presidential Award winner receives:
  • $1,000 Honorarium
  • Up to $1,000 in Travel Reimbursement
  • 1-Year Membership in iSBTc
  • Commemorative Presidential Award Plaque
  • Poster Ribbon noting the awardee as the "Presidential Award Winner"
(3) Presidential Travel Award winners receive:
  • Up to $750 in Travel Reimbursement
  • 1-Year Membership in iSBTc
  • Presidential Award Candidate Certificate
  • Poster Ribbon noting the awardee as a "Presidential Travel Award Winner"

iSBTc Travel Awards

iSBTc will offer six travel awards to selected young investigators presenting posters at the iSBTc 23rd Annual Meeting. Judging of the posters will be done by a committee of iSBTc leadership and Annual Meeting organizers.

(6) iSBTc Travel Award Winners receive:
  • Up to $750 in Travel Reimbursement
  • iSBTc Travel Award Winner Certificate
  • Poster Ribbon noting the awardee as an "iSBTc Travel Award Winner"
